Artist statement

Irony is almost as important as humour, we shouldn't take ourseves seriously just as much as definitly needed.

As a mixed media textile artist, I have always been interested in the abstraction and the deeper aspects of the personal stories of individuals. I am thrilled to incorporate other people's personal experiences into performances and other artworks. This sensorial experience of recognition, and understanding process creates the base of the materialization and the fictive structure of the textile, and material combination. The mixed material, and the creation of the material is often in the focus of the work. I am intrigued by the battle between "effect" and "honesty" within artworks. There is a tension between a desire for the work to remain raw and sincere and the editing process so that truth is disguised. The exploration of these issues are still evolving. The interest of textile design, costume oriented performance art, sculpture and installation is driving me to push the boundaries, try more, experience collaborations with theatre and performance groups.
