WEARABLE BOARD GAME

The concept of the "Wearable Board Game" was implemented within the framework of the MOME Child-Friendly City 2.0 project, the basic idea of the conception was that the perspectives of young children and grandchildren are often lost in urban planning, so the existing shortcomings and problems need to be solved. The design is based on the EU's child-friendly guidelines, including the topic of "fun and getting to know each other".

In the course of the research, the II. János Pál Pápa square, the park, and its surroundings. The mapping of the environment, transport hubs, and school, was followed by a survey of children’s needs.

Interviews with the children revealed that for them, the space is poor, there is not enough seating space, the playground is quite small, and the only one climber.

After developing a designer-reflective set of perspectives, I designed a raincoat that can be converted into a „play surface” for 7-8 year olds, keeping simplicity in mind. In open position, four children can play the game called “Who laughs at the end”, at the same time. The coat can be used both outdoors and indoors. The outer cord makes it easy to change the shape of the jacket, making it more playful. The colours of the jacket reflect the „Awareness and Safety” buzzwords.

The multifunctional jacket would contribute to community building and acquaintance at school, and playing around together would dissolve inhibitions and anxiety in children while creating a safe atmosphere.
