Fractures in dance

The shape and structure creating project was based on a personal experiment with an embossing stucture and its variability, with extremely different yarn thicknesses, The particular structure has the base of the embossing technique, the essence of this technique is to pause the half part of the working needles of the knitiing machine, and thus to create embossed shapes. In the convex forms, I achieved by combining different yarns, in this case soft silk yarn and dense cotton yarn, the special“ fracture lines”.
Along fracture lines the convex shapes started to change, so they crouched into the space, dented and formed into almost square shapes. It gives the opportunity for the limbs, and body parts to stay in scaled parts of the textile. The interplay between the elasticity of the silk yarn and the adhesion of the cotton yarns, offers for the convex forms to be stable against motion. The two pieces are based on covering the limbs, and the „fractured embossing” technique accompanied with different scale modifications. In this case, the convex 90cm gap is improved from knitted fabric that is enlarged to fit the body strain, while the smaller parts are fitting on the limbs. Among the knitted construction, the limbs are in direct contact with the stumps, and with certain modifications can create the deformation of the body, and offering new ways of experimenting our body.
